Electric bikes (e-bikes) pair a normal bicycle with a battery-powered motor that assists as you pedal — UK road-legal models assist up to 15.5mph, so you still ride, just with a powerful tailwind. Hills flatten, headwinds disappear, and longer commutes become realistic without arriving sweaty.
Most of our e-bikes use rear-hub or mid-drive motors with removable batteries that charge from a normal plug in 4–6 hours, giving 30–60 miles of assisted range depending on the level of assist you choose.
They cost pennies per charge to run, need no licence, tax or insurance, and qualify for Cycle to Work savings of up to 47%.
