How to Get a Summer Sale E-Bike for Around Half Price with Cycle to Work

How to Get a Summer Sale E-Bike for Around Half Price with Cycle to Work

Here's a combination most people don't realise they can stack: our Summer Sale prices and the Cycle to Work scheme. The sale knocks up to £350 off an e-bike, then Cycle to Work takes up to another 42% off through your salary — which puts a brand-new electric bike at roughly half its original price.

How the stack works

Cycle to Work is a government salary-sacrifice scheme: your employer pays for the bike, and you repay it from your pre-tax salary — typically over 12 months. Because the payments come out before tax and National Insurance, a basic-rate taxpayer saves around 32%, and a higher-rate taxpayer up to 42%. There's no credit check and no upfront cost.

Crucially, the scheme applies to the price you pay — so when the bike is already reduced in the sale, your savings compound.

What that means in real money

Bike RRP Sale price Effective cost via C2W*
Dawes Elegance £1,199.99 £889.99 from ~£516
Falcon Zone £1,199.99 £942.99 from ~£547
Falcon Horizon £1,299.99 £1,014.99 from ~£589
Claud Butler Ridge 1.0 £1,399.99 £1,049.99 from ~£609

*Effective cost for a higher-rate (42%) taxpayer; basic-rate taxpayers typically save around 32%. Exact savings depend on your salary, tax band and your employer's scheme provider.

Look at that first line again: a £1,199.99 e-bike for around £516, paid monthly from your salary before tax. That's less than a lot of ordinary pushbikes.

Not sure which of the four suits you?

We compared all four honestly — who each bike is for, batteries, weights and ranges — in our guide: Best Electric Bikes Under £1,100. Short version: Elegance for style around town, Zone for zero-fuss commuting, Horizon for a bit of everything, Ridge for trails.

How to actually do it

1. Check your employer runs a Cycle to Work scheme (most providers work with us — Cyclescheme, Cycle2Work and others)

2. Request a certificate/voucher for the bike's sale price

3. Redeem it with us and we'll get your bike built, checked and delivered

4. Repayments come out of your salary automatically — typically 12 months

Full details, employer info and FAQs on our Cycle to Work page — or just message us and we'll walk you through it.
