Dawes Venture 1.0 Cross Bar Hybrid Bike, Medium (17")

The simplest bike Dawes make, and deliberately so. One chainring, six gears, V-brakes — nothing to go out of adjustment, nothing that needs a workshop. If you want a bike that just works with minimal fuss, this is the one.

Who it fits

Medium 17" crossbar frame. As a general guide that suits most riders around 5'4" to 5'9", with 19" Large and 21" X Large above it. Prefer a step-through? The Venture 1.0 Low Step is the same bike in an easier-access frame.

What you're getting

• Gears: single front chainring with 6 Shimano gears at the rear — one shifter to learn, no front mech to drop a chain
• Brakes: alloy V-brakes — easy to adjust and cheap to replace pads on
• Frame: lightweight aluminium with a steel fork for a settled ride
• Comfort: swept-back handlebars for an upright position, ergonomic grips and a padded saddle
• Ready for more: frame bosses for mudguards, a rack and a kickstand, so you can add them as you need them

Worth knowing: the Venture 2.0 EQ comes with mudguards and a rear pannier rack already fitted, plus a wider 3x7 gear range.

Why we can price like this

We're an authorised Dawes dealer — but we don't run a shop.

No showroom. No shop floor. No stock sitting in a warehouse depreciating. Your bike is picked and dispatched from the manufacturer's own facility and comes straight to your door.

A traditional bike shop has to cover premises, staff and stockholding before it makes a penny, and that has to come out of the ticket price. We don't carry those costs, so we're not asking you to pay for them.

What you don't lose: full manufacturer warranty, because we're an authorised dealer and not a grey importer. A real person to talk sizing through with before you order.
