Dawes Bullet vs Paris HT: Which Kids' Mountain Bike? (20", 24", 26")

Two of the most-asked-about bikes in our Summer Sale are the Dawes Bullet HT and the Dawes Paris HT kids' mountain bikes. Parents regularly ask us which is better — so here's the honest answer up front: mechanically, they're the same excellent bike. Same frame, same 6-speed gearing, same weight, same price bracket. The real difference is the look.
That's genuinely useful to know, because it means you can let your child pick the colour they love without worrying they're getting a lesser bike.
Bullet HT — stealth black/red
Paris HT — blue, mint & pink
What they share
✅ Proper hardtail MTB frame — "HT" means a front suspension fork that soaks up kerbs, tracks and bumpy tarmac. Not a toy-shop lookalike.
✅ 6-speed gearing with an easy shifter — enough range for hills without overwhelming a young rider.
✅ Kid-sized everything — reach-adjusted brake levers, narrower bars, shorter cranks. Built around a child's proportions, not shrunk from an adult bike.
✅ Sensible weight — around 14.4kg in the 26" size. A bike a child can handle is a bike they'll actually ride.
Which size does your child need?
This is the bit that matters most. Go by wheel size and age/height, not by "room to grow" — an oversized bike is harder to control and less fun, so kids ride it less. Rough guide:
20" wheels · typically ages 6–8
24" wheels · typically ages 8–11
26" wheels · ages 9–12+
In between sizes, or not sure? Our guide on what size bike your child needs covers inside-leg measurements properly — or just message us with their age and height and we'll tell you straight.
